The Flash Demo Video.

Well the heres the Presentation Flash of our Game - Blob, used to demo on Mondays presentation.

Blob Demo

(The Flash player js script is playing up at mo, so it will load then play, but will pause for a little so just let it flow and it will continue, so bare with it for a mo, until i sort out this problem, thank you)

Whats next...

...well a grouping together and organising our duties for the progress of the Game and company website and other stuff.
Will post up whats what and whos doing what once everyones ok'd the company structure ect.

Blob

Well with the character we have gone for an earlier character that carl designed a while back, saving time as well as being a good fit with in our game. The wings are not a feature but will probably be part some where with in the game, as blob will be on foot from the start of the game.

The Company Name ..

Well we had to start to think of this so after a few suggestions and that "SPLASH" became our company name. At this time we had another member join our small company, Chris Steele, Welcome Chris. Above are initial ideas for logos for the company. The site will soon follow but we decided to get the demo game video and that ready for the presentation early on this week. so this will be coming soon. Well the actual company URl is as follows.

Splash Designs

Enemies and other stuff

The images above show a few initial ideas for enemies and the other one if the complete level sketch idea for the demo and the presentation video.

Logo and game name

The Name was simply choosen on the idea of the first character roughs as they resemble two blobs on top of each other. So i have included some roughs of the Logo and layout idea as well as the first character Idea.

Roughs and Ideas

I have Included a few rough from my workbook on the game and initial character idea.

A side option idea :-)

Well an idea is to place a real moving sky image on the background as in the example on this link.
Moving Sky backgroung

(Sky footage care of Advanceflash, for trail purpose thanks)

Problems to Solve ideas

Above are some sketch ideas for problems to solve within the first level, as below the first is the water problem, then the next image shows ideas for a second problem. This will be the main idea throughout the whole game.

Some Solutions for the begining

above is where we are at present with regards to the starting level. With a flying tap. The level problem here is to raise the island up, by turning on the flying tap, but where do you turn it on.......?

More of a solution to a level. The above shows a little bit of a level

Design Experiments and Solution

After a few ideas and loads of wasted time, the above would show how the whole game will be styled with regards to levels etc The above is constructed via circles, which came from the concept of the sky seen later.

Some initial Roughs

Well thought we better start logging our manual work onto the blog, so above are some initial ideas and roughs.

Concept and intentions

Thought would share this on line as to our intentions etc:

Company | Splash Productions

Game Name | TBA

The Game | The Game Ideas are based on the simplicity of Locoroco (http://www.locoroco.com/), in style and game play. Locoroco has only been release for around a year now, and its been gaining world awards, and was designed for the PSP and a childrens age range, but its simple game play and look, as well as the ??????????, it has become a major hit within the adult PSP players.

The main aspects of our game will be based on a 2D platform game, with simple graphics, and the simple four way moves, up, down, left and right with jumps, double jumps. We are currently considering if the character will be able to fire a weapon of based on some current games around, only able to destroy baddies via jumping on etc

Characters | these will be of an abstract look and feel, ie Flying Taps, Spoons, the main character we are currently looking at the moment, but a simple one similar to Locoroco or Rayman (http://raymanzone.uk.ubi.com/), but with some slight animation to create fluidity.

Objectives | The main objective of the game is to basically get home, but during the adventure, the character will need to solve problems to proceed to the next level. During each level problems will need to be solved to enable the character to proceed , to complete that level. From collecting an amount of abstract items, ice cream cones, apples etc, turning on of items to activate other things somewhere else within the level.

During the game we intend to introduce some funnies within, making you want to progress to see whats next, Eg birds hitting the screen, etc

Platform | The main platform we are looking at is the PSP, with other hand held consoles including mobile phones a possibility.

something outside the box

A little different approach, which works on a silhouette idea, and a world that appears as a section is achieved, based on say a puzzle solution, rather than a platform collection idea

a few first trials and egs

A couple of texture and layout ideas for progression
